| Megadeth - The System Has Failed

Opóźnione podziękowania.

Słuchałem tego albumu w wersji PROMO jakieś 100 razy
i bardzo jestem zdziwiony a może nawet zdegustowany tym co jest na
ostatecznej wersji. Gdzieś zniknął ten pazur, ten nerw to
megadethowe coś. Promo zbliżone było klimatem do "Countdown to
Extinction", a to co kupujemy w sklepie to prawie to samo co na
niedawnych albumach. Kto to zepsuł? Mustaine dostał pałką w łeb czy
jak?

eee, przestał ćpać? ;-)

Zastanawiam się jak brzmiały "nieostateczne" wersje Youthanasii,

Cryptic Writings, Riska albo The World Needs A Hero.

Today's Topic: Green Tea and Stomach Cancer

Here's another knock on "everyone knows ...."  Everyone knows that
green tea reduces risk of cancer, right?  Not according to an article
in the March 1, 2001 edition of the New England Journal of Medicine.

More green tea is consumed in Japan than anywhere else, and that
country has one of the highest rates of stomach cancer in the world.
Over 26,000 healthy residents of Japan were asked about dietary
habits at baseline, and more than 400 cases of stomach cancer were
identified in 8 years of followup.  There was no indication that
green tea drinking had any beneficial effect on stomach cancer.  In
fact, there was a nonsignificant 40% increase in stomach cancer among
those drinking the most green tea which was more than 5 cups daily.

HERE'S WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW: Like any prospective
study, the basic assumption is that habits didn't change over time.
There is now agreement that a bacterial infection contributes to much
of the risk for gastric cancer.  However, this was not tested for.
These results contradict many previous studies, but it is not clear
why the scientific findings disagree.  Drink it if you like it - not
because it might be medicine.

I might add you'll never find that in Anglo-Saxon audit reports.
The phrase in Polish is something one reads again and again in Polish
standard long form reports, for which the English speaking world has no
close equivalent.

You might need to know that if you're going to be translating them.

Put your Polish accounting phrases up here and I'll try to deal with them.
Remember I use British English, though.

To juz naprawde ostatni post z serii. Tym razem bez komentarzy z tej
samej strony co poprzednie:
Your first reaction to written Polish may be disbelief: There's no way
all those consonants belong in there. Way. But with a little practice, a
good Polish friend and maybe a few beers, you should be able to wrap your
tongue around at least a few key phrases. To get around Wroc³aw, you'll
probably need at to learn some survival Polish. English as the world's
lingua franca hasn't conquered this self-sufficient city yet. German,
thanks to the flood of tourists from across the border, is more widely
spoken. (More than once the question "Do you speak English?" yielded the
response "Kleine.") Here are some phrases to get you started. The beer
and the Polish friend are up to you.

"I just plucked down the 34 bones for SuSe just to see if the grass is

two years at home and work. Slackware before that. Anyhow I thought that
SuSe was kinda strange the way it loaded (perhaps different than Red Hat
is definition of strange here :-)) and yet I loved what they gave me on
CD under one package w/o "unbundling". The manual is GREAT! Red Hat's is
useless unless you have a need for a blue coaster. Not to say that the
SuSe manual had stuff in it that you couldn't find in /usr/doc but that
it was printed and part of the price made it charming. I'm glad I

Jesli chcesz w pelni korzystac z SuSE to raczej potrzebujesz nie mniej

No rzeczywiście ;-)
Ja bym chciał... a zresztą... po co się wygłupiać znowu :-)

A tak w ogóle --

We all need a place where we belong
the fire is burning, the radio's on
somebody smiles and it means 'I love you'
but sometimes we don't notice when the dream has come true

You've got a home -- here
call it what you want, you've got a home here
to return to, when you can't
face the world and you need some support
to succeed...
you've got a home

We all make a mess of our lives from time to time
It's a part of the process that you stumble as you climb
and if you ever feel the pain is far too big a deal
I'll say with pride "I'll stand by your side"

You've got a home -- here
call it what you want, you've got a home here
to return to, when you can't
face the world and you need some support
to succeed...
you've got a home

No to jeszcze Jack Nicholson z Few Good Men :)

Col. Jessep: Son, we live in a world that has walls, and those walls have to be
guarded by men with guns. Whose gonna do it? You? You, Lt. Weinburg? I have more
responsibility here than you could possibly fathom. You weep for Santiago, and
you curse the marines. You have that luxury. You have the luxury of not knowing
what I know. That Santiago's death, while tragic, probably saved lives. And that
my existence, while grotesque and incomprehensible to you, saves lives. I know
deep down in places you don't talk about at parties, you don't want me on that
wall, you need me on that wall. We use words like honor, code, loyalty. We use
these words as the backbone of a life spent defending something. You use them as
a punchline. I have neither the time nor the inclination to explain myself to a
man who rises and sleeps under the blanket of the very freedom I provide, then
question the manner in which I provide it. I prefer you said thank you, and went
on your way, Otherwise, I suggest you pick up a weapon, and stand to post.
Either way, I don't give a damn what you think you are entitled to.

is one of those
which people receive with credulous simplicity, or one of those which,
although obscure in themselves, have nevertheless a solid and immovable
foundation, I look upon them in a manner quite different.

This carelessness in a matter which concerns themselves, their eternity,
their all, moves me more to anger than pity; it astonishes and shocks me; it
is to me monstrous. I do not say this out of the pious zeal of a spiritual
devotion. I expect, on the contrary, that we ought to have this feeling from
principles of human interest and self-love; for this we need only see what
the least enlightened persons see.

We do not require great education of the mind to understand that here is no
real and lasting satisfaction; that our pleasures are only vanity; that our
evils are infinite; and, lastly, that death, which threatens us every
moment, must infallibly place us within a few years under the dreadful
necessity of being for ever either annihilated or unhappy.

There is nothing more real than this, nothing more terrible. Be we as heroic
as we like, that is the end which awaits the world. Let us reflect on this
and then say whether it is not beyond doubt that there is no good in this
life but in the hope of another; that we are happy only in proportion as we
draw near it; and that, as there are no more woes for those who have
complete assurance of eternity, so there is no more happiness for those who
have no insight into it.

Surely then it is a great evil thus to be in doubt, but it is at least an
indispensable duty to seek when we are in such doubt; and thus the doubter
who does not seek is altogether completely unhappy and completely wrong. And
if besides this he is easy and content, professes to be so, and

Znalazlem gdzies na sieci cos takiego:

1). IrDA Spec. Committee was insane.
2). Members created IrDA package firms and got rich.
3). Only they understand it.
4). They charge a percentage of all the money you'll ever make. (Mr.
Rumpelstiltskin chaired the committee.)
5). Reasonable people hate IrDA
6). Clever Programmers want to create free IrDA for the beautiful challenge
of it.
7). No group has sucessfully gotten started. Fights break out of C, C++,
Assembly languages.
8). IrDA has potential but no customers know they need it. Little reason to
inform them if you're already selling product.
9). IrDA will be shortly eclipsed by Bluetooth.
10). There are easier ways to make fortunes than programming IrDA.
11). After you've made a fortune, you can commit the time to write IrDA.

That being said, I find IrDA a very interesting topic. But I'm a spooky guy
that never shares useful code because that's all intellectual property of my
company. I'd love to implement IrDA on my 8051 and I think I could do it
extremely concise (I'm a rather clever guy in real life; all evidence here
to the contrary). I'd only offer discussions on how to implement it... not
how I'd do it. That just makes me all the more annoying on IrDA discussions.
hehehehe

I've read the IrDA specification cover to cover about 16 times and I think I
understand it and in an ideal world I'd be working on it now an for the next
year and a half. But Observation #10 above applies.

I am on OEM for strange radio telemetry applications and no customer of mine
knows much about IrDA and so I don't need to do it to increase sales. As an
engineer, I can appreciate the improvement of using IrDA but we'll await a
better reason to start.

My advice is to download the IrDA specification, weigh it, get really drunk
and try to read one chapter.

When you sober up, you'll know that your best next step is to re-evaluate
your need for IrDA. We've all been there.

Maybe that is where we should begin the discussion herein?

Is there sufficient reason to take on such a task?

Nie wiem co o tym myslec.
Trochu sie podlamalem.

Q

Sorry że nie po naszemu:

England has worst crime rate in world
By David Bamber, Home Affairs Correspondent
(Filed: 01/12/2002)

England and Wales have the highest crime rate among the world's leading
economies, according to a new report by the United Nations.

The survey, which is likely to prove embarrassing to David Blunkett, the
Home Secretary. shows that people are more likely to be mugged, burgled,
robbed or assaulted here than in America, Germany, Russia, South Africa or
any other of the world's 20 largest nations. Only the Dominican Republic,
New Zealand and Finland have higher crime rates than England and Wales.

According to the comparison of international crime statistics produced by
the UN's Office for Drug Control and Crime Prevention, England and Wales had
9,766 crimes for every 100,000 people in the year 2000. America had 8,517,
South Africa 7,997, Germany 7,621 and Russia 2,022.

During the period 1998-2000, Britain went from fifth to fourth worst in the
world league table. An analysis of total recorded crime figures before 1998
also suggests that England and Wales have moved sharply up the league table
since Labour came to power in 1997. Crimes fell from 5.5 million in 1993 to
4.5 million in 1997. By 1999, total crimes had risen again to 5.3 million.

Last night Oliver Letwin, the shadow home secretary, said: "This does rather
blow a hole in David Blunkett's claim that New Labour has crime under
control. It is a damning picture."

The UN reports also shows that England and Wales are the second-worst places
in the world for assaults, with 851 people assaulted per 100,000, and
seventh for burglaries and car theft, with 1,579 burglaries per 100,000
population.

Criminologists believe that a note of caution needs to be introduced into
analysis of the data, because of the different ways in which UN member
countries record crimes.

A Home Office spokesman said that officials had not yet seen the report and
so could not comment.

OASIS, STEREOPHONICS, MANIC STREET PREACHERS, BADLY DRAWN BOY and
STARSAILOR
are among artists who are entering studios around the world to record
special cover versions for the forthcoming NME/WAR CHILD charity album, '1
LOVE'.
The album, which is released in October on B-Unique via WEA, celebrates
NME's 50th birthday and the anniversary of the world's first ever singles
chart, which was launched in NME in 1952. Proceeds from sales of the album
will go to War Child, the organisation which, for the last 10 years, has
been actively providing aid to children whose lives have been devastated
by
war.

In 1995, War Child released the hugely successful 'HELP' album which
raised
the charity's profile for all the work it did during the Bosnian crisis.
Acts who donated their time and music included Manic Street Preachers,
Oasis, Massive Attack, Radiohead and Blur. Each band recorded and
delivered
their song on the same day, and the album was released one week later. The
album went on to raise 1.25 million pounds for the cause.

NME's Editorial Director Steve Sutherland said : "What we have here is a
great combination of celebrations. NME is 50 this year, the chart was
launched the year NME was founded and NME worked alongside Warchild to
raise
publicity for the original 'Help' album. So when it came to discussions
about how we should mark our anniversary, we pretty quickly decided that,
with the world in the state its in, we wanted to create something both
useful and historic.

"With that in mind, we are delighted to announce news of the '1 Love'
project with the full expectation that it will storm the charts and
provide
War Child with greater profile and, of course, vital funds. The idea is
that
today's top artists record a brand new version of one of their favourite
number one hits of all time and, with literally hundreds of tracks to
choose
from, we fully anticipate that '1 Love' will be a truly extraordinary and
landmark album.

"The calibre of artists already signed up is incredible and more acts are
calling up to join in every day. In the last 24 hours, Basement Jaxx,
Feeder, Ms Dynamite and Jimmy Eat World have all joined the project and
there are some other real stunners in the pipeline."

The project is being executive produced by Spike Stent who is famous for
his
work with Madonna and Oasis among others. In order to hit our deadlines,
all
recordings must be delivered to Spike by the first week of September so
there's still time for NME.COM readers to get involved. What we'd like you
to do is e-mail us your top pick for '1 Love'. All we need is your name,
age, address and which artist you'd like to see on the album covering
which
number one single from the last 50 years. Who knows? You may just get your
dream track onto an album and help War child to rebuild the lives of
innocent kids in war torn territories all over the world. Send your
e-mails

NME will be providing weekly updates on the '1 Love' project and next week
we will reveal more details of those participating and some of their
stunning choices of cover versions.

We the people fight for our existence
We don't claim to be perfect but we're free
We dream our dreams alng with no resistance
Fadeing like the stars we wish to be

You knoiw i didn't mean
What I just said
But my god woke up on the wrong side of his bed

And it just dont matter now

It's little by little
He gave you everything you ever dreamed of
Little by little
The wheals of  your life have slowly fallen of
Little by little
You have give it all in on your life
And all the time I'll just ask my self why
you're really here

True perfection has to be imperfect
I konw that that sounds foolish but it's true
The day has come and now you have to accept
Life inside your head we give to you

Songbird

Talking to the songbird yesterday
Flew me to the place not far away
She's a littlepilot in my mind
Singing songs in love to pass the time

Gonna warite her songs so she can sleep ( sing , see ? )
Give her all the love she gives to me
Talk of better days that yet to come
Never felt this love from anyone

she's not anyone

A man can never dream these kind of dreams
Especially whany she came and spread her wings
Whispered in my ear the things i like
Than she flew away in to the night

Gonna warite her songs so she can sleep ( sing , see ? )
Give her all the love she gives to me
Talk of better days that have yet to come
Never felt this love from anyone

and I can only imagine what will happen to the whole computer
security world if this is as easy and simple as he claims.  - WK]

By EDU H. LOPEZ
Friday, 2 February 2001

A Filipino mathematics enthusiast has developed a new method of
decoding RSA (RivestShamir-Adleman) encryption using three simple
formulas.

Leo de Velez has discovered these three formulas are simple forward
equations that allow fast decoding of RSA encryption.

RSA is an Internet encryption and authentication system that uses an
algorithm developed in 1977 by Ron Rivest, Adi Shamir, and Leonard
Adleman.

The RSA algorithm is the most commonly used encryption and
authentication algorithm and is included as part of the Web browser
from Netscape and Microsoft.

It's also part of Lotus Notes, Intuit's Quicken, and many other
products. The encryption system is owned by RSA Security. The company
licenses the algorithm technologies and also sells development kits.

The technologies are part of existing or proposed Web, Internet, and
computing standards.

Here's how the RSA system works. The mathematical details of the
algorithm used in obtaining the public and private keys are available
at the RSA Web site.

Briefly, the algorithm involves multiplying two large prime numbers (a
prime number is a number divisible only by that number and through
additional operations deriving a set of two numbers that constitutes
the public key and another set that is the private key.

Once the keys have been developed, the original prime numbers are no
longer important and can be discarded.

Both the public and the private keys are needed for
encryption/decryption but only the owner of a private key ever needs
to know it.

Using the RSA system, the private key never needs to be sent across
the Internet. The private key is used to decrypt text that has been
encrypted with the public key.

Thus, if I send you a message, I can find out your public key (but not
your private key) from a central administrator and encrypt a message
to you using your public key.

When you receive it, you decrypt it with your private key. In addition
to encrypting messages (which ensures privacy), you can authenticate
yourself to me (so I know that it is really you who sent the message)
by using your private key to encrypt a digital certificate. When I
receive it, I can use your public key to decrypt it.

It's a terrible idea for many reasons. Not to mention you post is
inchoherent. I'd be interested in debating this but you need to clarify
your statements.

You can take programming conecpts from Linux and apply them to Windows
development. Besides MacOSX is already based on BSD UNIX... why change?
The whole point of the Mac is that you get an OS tailored for one small
set of hardware. This creates the great system that we all know and
enjoy.

Sure it would be possible to use "Linux kernel" for MacOSX but as I
said, why? The Mach Kernel with a BSD subsystem is working very well.

Applications would need to be completely rewriten from scratch and
that's not going to happen.

The argument to switch to Intel has been made and shot down many times
before and made much better.

Brian Marshall
I had a dream and I could not sleep over it. :-P

Mac developers should.... buy Linux like Red Hat or Mandrake, and use Mac
OSX....  WITH Linux on... PC!!!!!!!!!

Since both systems are based on Unix, there would be not major problem to
adapt Mac OS for PC type of hardware.

It would be possible to use Linux kernel as a base for MAC OS

instead of xwin or KDS or Gnome. And than, of course, all MAC applications
and games would run and M$... be afraid, be very afraid! ;-P

Other way would be adapt some ideas from Linux and utilize them for PC
platform and use full MAC OS system on PC kicking M$ right is ass.

Initially, could be hard because so many drivers but... I would start only
with NVIDIA, Creative Labs, VIA and SIS systems. Others would have to
follow. ;-P

Starting price could be $10! That's right. Fight would be hard initially

but latter prices would be very competitive and MAC would keep M$ on their
toes.

That may cause MAC hardware to collapse but... IMHO, what is stopping MAC OS
to go further on the market is their hardware prices. OS system is still the
best in the world!

Just adapt it for main stream and MAC version, if some significant hardware
are superior than PC, keep them and further develop.

A Letter from Michael Moore to George W. Bush on the Eve of War

Monday, March 17th, 2003
George W. Bush
1600 Pennsylvania Ave.
Washington, DC
Dear Governor Bush:
So today is what you call "the moment of truth," the day that "France and
the rest of world have to show their cards on the table." I'm glad to hear
that this day has finally arrived. Because, I gotta tell ya, having survived
440 days of your lying and conniving, I wasn't sure if I could take much
more. So I'm glad to hear that today is Truth Day, 'cause I got a few truths
I would like to share with you:
1. There is virtually NO ONE in America (talk radio nutters and Fox News
aside) who is gung-ho to go to war. Trust me on this one. Walk out of the
White House and on to any street in America and try to find five people who
are PASSIONATE about wanting to kill Iraqis. YOU WON'T FIND THEM! Why?
'Cause NO Iraqis have ever come here and killed any of us! No Iraqi has even
threatened to do that. You see, this is how we average Americans think: If a
certain so-and-so is not perceived as a threat to our lives, then, believe
it or not, we don't want to kill him! Funny how that works!
2. The majority of Americans -- the ones who never elected you -- are not
fooled by your weapons of mass distraction. We know what the real issues are
that affect our daily lives -- and none of them begin with I or end in Q.
Here's what threatens us: two and a half million jobs lost since you took
office, the stock market having become a cruel joke, no one knowing if their
retirement funds are going to be there, gas now costs two dollars a
gallon -- the list goes on and on. Bombing Iraq will not make any of this go
away. Only you need to go away for things to improve.
3. As Bill Maher said last week, how bad do you have to suck to lose a
popularity contest with Saddam Hussein? The whole world is against you, Mr.
Bush. Count your fellow Americans among them.
4. The Pope has said this war is wrong, that it is a SIN. The Pope! But even
worse, the Dixie Chicks have now come out against you! How bad does it have
to get before you realize that you are an army of one on this war? Of
course, this is a war you personally won't have to fight. Just like when you
went AWOL while the poor were shipped to Vietnam in your place.
5. Of the 535 members of Congress, only ONE (Sen. Johnson of South Dakota)
has an enlisted son or daughter in the armed forces! If you really want to
stand up for America, please send your twin daughters over to Kuwait right
now and let them don their chemical warfare suits. And let's see every
member of Congress with a child of military age also sacrifice their kids
for this war effort. What's that you say? You don't THINK so? Well, hey,
guess what -- we don't think so either!
6. Finally, we love France. Yes, they have pulled some royal screw-ups. Yes,
some of them can be pretty damn annoying. But have you forgotten we wouldn't
even have this country known as America if it weren't for the French? That
it was their help in the Revolutionary War that won it for us? That it was
France who gave us our Statue of Liberty, a Frenchman who built the
Chevrolet, and a pair of French brothers who invented the movies? And now
they are doing what only a good friend can do -- tell you the truth about
yourself, straight, no b.s. Quit pissing on the French and thank them for
getting it right for once. You know, you really should have traveled more
(like once) before you took over. Your ignorance of the world has not only
made you look stupid, it has painted you into a corner you can't get out of.
Well, cheer up -- there IS good news. If you do go through with this war,
more than likely it will be over soon because I'm guessing there aren't a
lot of Iraqis willing to lay down their lives to protect Saddam Hussein.
After you "win" the war, you will enjoy a huge bump in the popularity polls
as everyone loves a winner -- and who doesn't like to see a good
ass-whoopin' every now and then (especially when it 's some third world
ass!). And just like with Afghanistan, we'll forget about what happens to a
country after we bomb it 'cause that is just too complex! So try your best
to ride this victory all the way to next year's election. Of course, that's
still a long ways away, so we'll all get to have a good hardy-har-har while
we watch the economy sink even further down the toilet!
But, hey, who knows -- maybe you'll find Osama a few days before the
election! See, start thinking like THAT! Keep hope alive! Kill Iraqis --
they got our oil!!
Yours,
Michael Moore

I. Reflection

Cunning, Baffling, Powerful
Been beaten to a pulp
Vigorous, Irresistable
Sick and tired and laid low
Dominating, Invisible
Black-out, loss of control
Overwhelming, Unquenchable
I'm powerless, have to let go

I can't escape it
It leaves me frail and worn
Can no longer take it
Senses tattered and torn

Hopeless surrender
Obsession's got me beat
Losing the will to live
Admitting complete defeat

Fatal Descent
Spinning around
I've gone too far
To turn back round

Desperate attempt
Stop the progression
At any length
Lift this obsession

Crawling to my glass prison
A place where no one knows
My secret lonely world begins

So much safer here
A place where I can go
To forget about my daily sins

Life here in my glass prison
A place I once called home
Fall in nocturnal bliss again

Chasing a long lost friend
I no longer can control
Just waiting for this hopelessness to end

II. Restoration

Run - fast from the wreckage of the past
A shattered glass prison wall behind me
Fight - past walking through the ashes
A distant oasis before me

Cry - desperate crawling on my knees
Begging God to please stop the insanity
Help me - I'm trying to believe
Stop wallowing in my own self pity

"We've been waiting for you my friend
The writing's been on the wall
All it takes is a little faith
You know you're the same as us all"

Help me - I can't break out this prison all alone
Save me - I'm drowning and I'm hopeless on my own
Heal me - I can't restore my sanity alone

Enter the door
Desperate
Fighting no more
Help me restore
To my sanity
At this temple of hope

I need to learn
Teach me how
Sorrow to burn
Help me return
To humanity
I'll be fearless and thorough
The enter this temple of hope

Believe
Transcend the pain
Living the live
Humility
Opened my eyes
This new odyssey
Of rigorous honesty

Serenity
I never knew
Soundness of mind
Helped me to find
Courage the change
All the things that I can

"We'll help you perform this miracle
But you must set your past free
You dug the hole, but you can't bury your soul
Open your mind and you will see"

Help me - I can't break out this prison all alone
Save me - I'm drowning and I'm hopeless on my own
Heal me - I can't restore my sanity alone

III. Revelation

Way off in the distance I saw the door
I tried to open
I tried forcing with all of my will and still
The door wouldn't open

Unable to trust in my faith
I turned and walked away
I looked around, felt a chill in the air
Took my will and turned it over

The glass prison which once held me is now gone
A long lost fortress
Armed only with liberty
And the key of my willingness

Fell down on my knees and prayed
"Thy will be done"
I turned around, saw a light shining through
The door was wide open

Hi all!

This is my first post here on this forum, but I see you have already copied
my text from other sources.

I posted that thread, as a wake up call to all of you who really care about
Polish steam. There is action taking place, at this moment which endangers
many engines, which you believe to be safe. Why now, well part of the reason
has been mentioned above, which is liked to the current scrap price and the
fact that steam engines are very good scrap, and command a higher price than
on Fiat 126's!

But, there is a much deeper concern to all of this. Firstly, the way things
are going in Poland at the moment, there will be no active steam in the whole
of Poland, with the exception of Chabowka, which is hanging on just, and
Wolsztyn. I will come to Wolsztyn maters later.

I came to Poland last year in March for a weeks holiday with a friend. I used
to live here all the time before 2001, but I was forced to return to England
after my mother had a stroke. During our trip, we visited Chabowka, only to
be told the museum was in a state of being wound up, because PKP had no money

the person was in a place to know. We discovered that Jaworzyna was also in
the process of closing too, which sparked me and my friend to try and do
something about the situation. Following our return to England, and lots of
emails, it was decided to hold a meeting in Warszawa. Since this meeting, in
late 2003, Chabowka has now been financed, a decision, maybe linked to the
meeting? I was not present at this meeting, so I don't know.

Wolsztyn on the other hand has no problems on the surface, engines get
repaired? sometimes, but mostly, as seem the case, other good engines are
drafted in, to replace others so badly worn out. There are no funds to repair
them, so only the scrappers torch awaits them. Today I read on another forum
that Ol49-3 and 11, and Tkt48-18 are moving to replace other engines at
Wolsztyn. http://www.parowozy.com.pl/simpleforum20/q.php?mode=read&id=301

This is the continuation of the devastation of the remaining fleet of good
engines in Poland, as these engines will also be used to a point were they
too are only scrap, and then what? Is there a secret factory in Poland still
making Ol49's? If so I want a dozen! I'm sick and tired on mentioning the
real reason for what's causing the demise of so many engines in Wolsztyn, so
here's a clue. http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/world/europe/3523499.stm

Since the beginning of this year a scrap company has been touring Poland
scrapping the last remaining engines, which are supposed to be unwanted by
PKP. This scrapping has cleared long forgotten places like Scineawka Srednie,
but also cleared places where engines were reserved for Pyskowice, and had
museum orders covering them, which PKP knew about. so bits of paper do not
protect engines, that's a fact.

Just in case non of you have read it, here is the Polish law covering
antiques.  http://www.zabytki.pl/sources/prawo/ustawa.html.

Now, think on there is a large collection of engines mostly, but not all
belonging to PKP, and not MK at Krzeszowice, which are on the list of engines
which are not wanted by MK, along with these, add all the engines at
Jaworzyna, which are there as PKP exhibits, and Elk, plus lost of other
engines which for one reason or another still survive, you have another 40+
engines which could easily go for scrap. I mentioned the ones in Krakow, as
these engines are not wanted at Chabowka, as there is no space for them
there, so we were told, so I've included them on my "in danger list"

If you stop and think, there is a clear strategy to all of this. This is not
some plot dreamed up by an Englishman sitting on his butt in England. This is
what is going on in Poland today!

What can be done to stop it? Well, A national out cry needs to be raised in
the press. This policy is bad for Poland's future tourist business, which
some of you might get involved with in the future, but there is no future for
this business in Poland if everything is scrapped.

I would happily come to Poland a check the condition of every non museum
steamer left in the country, and draw up a list of what to keep and what to
scrap, based on condition, so the best would be kept. But I know this will
not happen, and the scrapping will continue.

In Britain, and all of Europe, steam engines are valued as an irreplaceable
resource, why should that be different in Poland?

Prosze mi wybaczyc cytowanie po angielsku, ale moim zdaniem warto!

"It wasn't a rocket-propelled grenade, a Sam missile or a mortar; it wasn't
a bullet or even an infidel Coke bottle full of petrol that did for the
helicopter. It was a bird. The aircrew showed us the splat that broke its
nose. Welcome to Baghdad, where even the pigeons are suicidal."

"The lieutenant general who is second-in-command of this whole damn
shooting match seems to spend a lot of his time half-naked, or perhaps
that's half-dressed. He sports no rank badge but then he doesn't need one.
Only a lieutenant general would be walking around headquarters bare to the
waist. Apart from the naturism, Bims has more charm than I'd have thought
possible to get into a single human being. I imagine the army has a special
course for everyone over the rank of colonel that makes them devastatingly
good in a room. The polite version of cone-shaped chargers. There is no
defence against a blast of molten English niceness."

"A garden cropped like a formation of green guardsmen, with a goat. An
Abyssinian goat with droopy ears and a malevolent mien that's called either
Dog or Jar Jar Binks. Where would the army be without a Sunday-roast
mascot? It can only be a matter of weeks before the Mirror and the Mail are
vying to save it."

"Maud House is all shiny megalomaniac's marble, mostly bedrooms and
bathrooms. It was one of Saddam's private brothels. The army, bless it,
always resolutely unaware of its own symbolism, turns a politely blind eye
to the fact that the Americans live in Saddam's palaces and the Brits in
his knocking shop. So who's the daddy and who's the Yankie bitch?"

"The truth about the army here in the Green Zone is that their biggest job
is protecting themselves. The American soldiers spend a year opening and
closing barriers. It's an excoriating cocktail of weeping boredom and
gnawing fear. Checkpoints are magnets for suicide bombers, but the work is
so repetitively stultifying that the Americans move like zombies, pressing
their faces to the car windows with the uncomprehending glazed stare of
guppies in an aquarium."

"Most of my hawkeyed reporting was reduced to watching Jeremy have his
photograph taken with groups of gurning, up-thumbing crack-fighting units.
It's like a military Disney World. He stands in huddles of camouflage like
a big blue extra from Wallace & Gromit with a Plasticine beam and a teacup
on his head."

"You can't help liking British servicemen. It's the humour and the banter,
the air of gawky competence, the legs-apart, four-square confidence. Our
boys do a six-month tour and are trusted to have a couple of beers a day.
The Yanks are drier than a desert sandbag."

"And then there are the berets. The Brits spend an obsessive and some might
say risibly gay amount of time shaping and positioning their hats. The
Iraqis wear them unaware. Plopped like failed soufflĂŠs."

"We talk to another general, this one surprisingly overdressed, who briefs
us off the record. The situation sounds winningly tickety-boo given that I
only understand one sentence in 50. The well-honed military mind runs on
TLAs - three-letter abbreviations. These are opaque at the best of times.
If you're dyslexic, they are like alphabet spaghetti."

    REMOV

CENTCOM does in fact release wounded totals, but only when asked.
Recently, they've started getting asked regularly. Here are daily
wounded-in-action averages (rounded to the nearest tenth):

October (to date): 12.2
September: 9.1
March 20 to August: 6.8

This table is drawn from:

http://lunaville.org/warcasualties/WndByDate.aspx

which in turn is based on numbers that come straight from CENTCOM.

As can be seen, they've only been doing regular recording of CENTCOM's
numbers since September. Although it is readily apparent that the rate
of WIA losses is rising, and rising quite quickly, it is not very
clear what was going on between March 20 (the start of the war) and
the end of August.

Some other sources can be drawn on to try and clarify the picture,
although a caution is necessary in that drawing from different sources
can lead to incompatible results - in particular a tendency for blurry
dates and a confusion of all wounded with just those wounded in
action.

That said, a July 10 article at:

http://us.cnn.com/2003/WORLD/meast/07/09/sprj.irq.main/

put the number of wounded-in-action at 791. If we add that in, the
numbers adjust as follows:

October (to date): 12.2
September: 9.1
July 10 through August: 6.4
March 20 to July 9: 7.1

* The article was by-lined on the 10th, so it probably represents data
that is one or two days old. I allowed one.

Another article offers a figure from April 30 - 550 wounded in action
(that date is the end-of-major-combat date):

http://www.redding.com/news/world/past/20030903world059.shtml

If we add that in, the table reshapes as follows:

October (to date): 12.2
September: 9.1
July 10 through August: 6.4
April 30 to July 9: 3.4
March 20 to April 30: 13.75

At this point, the distinction between the losses suffered during
"major combat" and the subsequent guerilla war come into relief. It is
clearly visible that the guerilla conflict is intensifying, and
intensifying rapidly. Improvements in medical care and body armor are
keeping the KIA total down, creating the illusion of a more or less
stable situation; but the wounded totals tell a very different tale.
It has been reported elsewhere that the attacks have been getting more
numerous; it is clear from these numbers that they also are getting
more effective, and at a rapid rate.

The administration's claims that the guerillas are getting more
desparate because they are not being effective is simply not in accord
with reality. U. S. soldiers are being wounded today at a rate just as
high as during what Bush called "major combat" (yes, the numbers at
the end of October are higher than those in early October).

How high will the numbers go? That's anybody's guess, but there is no
well-defined upper bound here. The guerillas are still organizing
while the U.S. strength in Iraq will shortly begin to decline as the
troop rotation plan implodes. Military sources are talking about the
need to start scaling back force levels as early as February.

As a war, this is a lost fight. If the U.S. is to succeed, it can only
be through a drastic alteration of the political landscape within
which the war is being fought. Is the Bush administration willing to
do that? I think not. They are running behind - by the time they are
ready to make a political concession, it is too late for that
concession to be effective. So, instead of salvaging something, the
U.S. will likely press on to the bloody and expensive end and the U.S.
and Iraq both will lose much more than either needed to. What a
tragedy.

The most disturbing news today has come from Al-Jazeera, they said
that nine B52 bombers have left the airfield in Britain and flying
?presumably? towards Iraq, as if they would be doing a spin around the
block. Anyway they have 6 hours to get here.
Last night was very quiet in Baghdad. Today in the morning I went
out to get bread and groceries. There were no Ba?ath party people
stopping us from leaving the area where we live, this apparently happens
after the evening prayers. But they are still everywhere. The streets
are empty only bakeries are open and some grocery shops charging 4 times
the normal prices, while I was buying bread a police car stopped in
front of the bakery and asked the baker if they had enough flour and
asked when they opened; the baker told me that they have been informed
that they must open their shops and they get flour delivered to them
daily. Groceries, meat and dairy products are a different story. One
dairy product company seems to be still operating, not state owned, and
their cars were going around the city distributing butter, cheese and
yoghurt to any open markets. Meat is not safe to buy because you
wouldn?t know from where and how it got to the shops. Anyway we bought
fresh tomatoes and zucchini for 1000 dinar a kilo which would normally
be 250. and most amazingly the garbage car came around.
The Iraqi Satellite Channel is not broadcasting anymore. The second
youth TV channel (it shows Egyptian soaps in the morning and sports
afterwards) also stopped transmitting. This leaves two channels: Iraq TV
and Shabab (youth) TV. They are still full of patriotic songs and
useless ?news?, they love the French here. We also saw the latest Sahaf
show on Al-Jazeera and Iraq TV, and the most distressing minister of
Interior affairs with his guns. Freaks. Hurling abuse at the world is
the only thing left for them to do.
On BBC we are watching scenes of Iraqis surrendering. My youngest
cousin was muttering ?what shame? to himself, yes it is better for them
to do that but still seeing them carrying that white flag makes
something deep inside you cringe.
we sit infront of the TV with the mao of Iraq on our laps trying to
figure out what is going on in the south.

the all clear siren just went on.
The bombing aould come and go in waves, nothing too heavy and not
yet comparable to what was going on in 91. all radio and TV stations are
still on and while the air raid began the Iraqi TV was showing patriotic
songs and didn't even bother to inform viewers that we are under attack.
at the moment they are re-airing yesterday's interview with the minister
of interior affairs. THe sounds of the anti-aircarft artillery is still
louder than the booms and bangs which means that they are still far from
where we live, but the images we saw on Al Arabia news channel showed
a building burning near one of my aunts house, hotel pax was a good
idea. we have two safe rooms one with "international media" and the
other with the Iraqi TV on. every body is waitingwaitingwaiting. phones
are still ok, we called around the city a moment ago to check on
friends. Information is what they need. Iraqi TV says nothing, shows
nothing. what good are patriotic songs when bombs are dropping
around 6:30 my uncle went out to get bread, he said that all the
streets going to the main arterial roads are controlled by Ba'ath
people. not curfew but you have to have a reason to leave your
neighborhood, and the bakeries are, by instruction of the Party, seeling
only a limited amount of bread to each customer. he also says that near
the main roads all the yet unfinished houses have been taken by party or
army people.

Iraqi sattelite channel, but while he was saying that the ISC was

and I can only imagine what will happen to the whole computer

By EDU H.

***************************************************************************************
Od jutrzejszego popołudnia, użytkownicy usługi SkypeOut będą mogli
wykonywać tańsze połączenia na telefony stacjonarne w całej Polsce. W ten
sposób Polska nareszcie dołącza do grona krajów objętych tak zwaną
globalną taryfą Skype. Spadną też nieznacznie stawki za połączenia do
sieci komórkowych, podają przedstawiciele OnetSkype.
http://di.com.pl/news/10697,1.html
****************************************************************************************
We’ve just made a change to SkypeOut that allows you to call toll-free
numbers in several countries free of charge, even if you don’t have
SkypeOut and don’t ever plan to buy it. (If you DO have SkypeOut, those
calls are priced at zero price.) Note that this is currently in beta, so
there may be issues — see below for details — but we’ve verified it works
fairly well for us.The following countries and number ranges are
supported. We’re working on the rest of the world.
France: +33 800, +33 805, +33 809
Poland: +48 800
UK: +44 500, +44 800, +44 808
USA: +1 800, +1 866, +1 877, +1 888
We think this is a fairly big thing. If you’re a Skype user, here’s the
deal. You can call the toll-free numbers in many countries even if you
haven’t bought SkypeOut and don’t ever plan to. You can also use this to
see that SkypeOut works well for you as a sort of “try before you buy at
no risk”.If you are a company or service provider who provides access to
customers over the phone, it means you can accept global toll-free calls
from users all over the world using the procedures and phone system that
are already in place. (Well… you could do that also using the free
Skype-to-Skype calls, but you may not want to, for various reasons. So we
don’t push you, we believe in choice. Use whichever is more convenient for
you.)How do I use it?In Skype, just enter the number in international
format in the Address Bar (start with +1 for USA, +44 for UK etc) and hit
the big green button. Couldn’t be easier! You can also add the numbers to
your contact list and call them “pizza”, “video rentals” or wherever else
you’re calling. The free calls are effective immediately and supported on
all platforms where the Skype client is available.See the SkypeOut Dialing
Wizard if you need help dialing. (Since this is a very new change in the
system, the dialing wizard may still show those calls being priced, even
though they’re actually free. We’re updating the prices in the dialing
wizard shortly.)Known issuesNow, there are some known issues with the
whole thing. Help us fix these and let us know if you encounter anything
more in this forum thread.Call quality degrades after you select a menu
item for certain US phone numbers. This is because of a known issue with
one of our phone service partners. Work is ongoing to fix the issue. The
call length counter may not start immediately, and may only start mid-way
through the call. This is a minor issue, as the call is free
anyway.Certain US regional toll-free numbers are blocked. This is because
the company being called only wants to accept calls from certain areas of
the US, and is not able to determine where the Skype user is located since
Skype is not transmitting the info at this
time.http://share.skype.com/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=144&...

my work is done in either pencil or art brush mixed with color pencils.

I have recently added designing and creating artwork on the computer, I

am always facing serious difficulties when it comes to selling my art

I am looking for a representative in the Europe who

Peace of mind is not in the bedazzlement of this world, or in intoxicants. It is only to be found in turning to God... Increasing materialism, non-belief and vulgarity is attracting Divine chastisement... Natural disasters occurred in last 100 years are far greater than natural disasters in the previous 1,200 years. This year floods and earthquakes came in Indonesia (February), a huge earthquake in the Solomen Islands, floods in Pakistan, floods in Bangladesh (June) , in India (July), in The UK (July), huge earthquake in Japan, a natural disaster occurred in USA in August, there were floods in China, heavy rainfalls and flooding in N. Korea and the Peru earthquake, more flooding in Pakistan. In Australia natural disasters caused havoc with the motorways. There was horrendous rainfall in Burkina Faso; a hurricane caused havoc in Hawaii as well an earthquake. An unprecedented tropical cyclone occurred in the Arabian Sea, there was a tornado in Alabama USA and flooding in South Africa.
A LETTER TO NON-MUSLIMS

DR UMAR AZAM BA PHD DCL DIP.FJ DIP.IM

Manchester, UK

Dear Non-Muslim,

Islamic organisations constantly receive enquiries from non-Muslims
stating that they [the latter] are considering whether to convert* to
Islam, or confirming that they have already decided to convert, and
asking what their next step should be.  This paper is intended as a
guide to such prospective Muslims; it is not intended as a propagative
exhortation to pressurise non-Muslims to convert to Islam against
their will.

Millions, of non-Muslims the world over have already converted to
Islam, out of their own free will, without duress of any kind, over
the 1,424 years of Islam's history.  So, if you do convert, you will
be joining a multitude of fortunate people!

Most non-Muslims convert to Islam after being profoundly convinced of
the truth by the Holy Quran.  So please read the English meaning of
the Holy Quran, or the translation of whichever language you use:
Spanish, Swaheli, German, Mandarin Chinese etc.

If you are thinking of converting to Islam but are feeling
apprehensive, it's a good idea to get advice from those Muslims who
were themselves formerly non-Muslims.  Once you have decided to
convert to Islam, all you need to do is to go to a Mosque or Islamic
Centre and you will be welcomed with open arms.  When you convert, you
first need to take a bath and then declare the following [it is in
Arabic]:

" LA ILAH ILLALLAH         MOHAMMED-UR-RASOOL ULLAH

There is no god except Allah and Mohammed [PBUM] is the Messenger of
Allah

And you will have become a Muslim!  After that, all you do is to
follow the rules of Islam with all your heart, that's it - it's so
simple!  There is no compulsion or obligation for non-Muslims to
convert to Islam: the Holy Quran makes this absolutely clear.  But
believers are urged to preach Islam to non-Muslims with 'a beautiful
preaching'.  If, as a non-Muslim, you become convinced that upon
converting you will, Insha'Allah [by the Will of God] be saved from
the Eternal Fire of Hell, then no other decision you make in your life
can be as important!

Here are some points a Muslim in the Mosque or Islamic Centre would
make to a non-Muslim to help him/her in his/her decision to become a
Muslim:

Whoever you are, you are my ultimately my brother or sister because
all mankind is descended from Adam and Eve [May Allah Bless them].  So
your race, nationality, status etc. are of no particular concern to me
or any other Muslim.

Because you are my brother/sister, I care for you.  So I don't want
Hell to be your destination after death.  I want God to be kind to
you.  I want you to go to Paradise.  Do become a Muslim.  Islam will
give you Paradise.

We live in a temporary world.  It is temporary because there is no
guarantee of life.  Death can come at any time.

Be a Muslim at the time of your death.  When you convert, you will be
forgiven all the sins you accumulated while you were a non-Muslim.
Then when death does come, you will be in a much stronger position to
be forgiven  the sins you accumulated after becoming a Muslim and
will, Insha'Allah, be Blessed on the Day of Judgement.

Do not allow anti-Islamic propaganda to beguile you.  Islam is a
religion of peace and love.  Do not let your family and friends, if
they disapprove of you converting to Islam, become a barrier to your
destiny.  Your loyalty to your Creator ought to be greater than to
those you love [indeed God is the Maker of such relationships].  No
soul can bear your burden on the Day of Judgement, so it is your
decision alone.  Moreover, you will be alone in your grave, so your
family and friends won't be able to help you if you die in disbelief.

The most I can do for you is to tell you what is true: that if you
decide to believe, you will gain Salvation and Eternal Bliss.  The
most I can do is to tell you so.  The final decision as to whether you
should convert or not is in your hands.  I pray that God be your Guide
and Mercy.

Dr Umar Azam

* A more fashionable word nowadays is to 'revert': 'revert' is the
word presumably used because everyone is born a Muslim but afterwards
he/she may follow on into another religion.  If he/she becomes a
believer later on in life, this is an example of reversion.  I have,
however, decided to remain loyal to the old-fashioned 'convert'
because 'convert' does mean to change one thing [in this case, one's
religion] into something else.
